Portsmouth Cathedral Choir Welcomes Lifeline Funding

Portsmouth Cathedral is delighted to welcome a grant from the Cathedral Choirs’ Emergency Fund. The Fund brings together support from the Cathedral Music Trust, The Ouseley Church Music Trust, and the Choir School’s Association together with donations from thousands of members of the public. The grant to Portsmouth Cathedral will provide a lifeline to over 70 musicians across all three of our choirs, safeguarding our choral tradition and regular pattern of sung services until summer 2021.

Coronavirus: Statement regarding tier 3 restrictions in Portsmouth

Although Portsmouth has now been placed under tier 3 restrictions, I am pleased to say that, in accordance with government guidelines, all of our Carol, Crib and other Christmas services will proceed as planned. We are sorry, though, that some will no longer be travelling to the Cathedral because they live in a lower tier area. Many of our Christmas services are live-streamed, and all are welcome to join us in worship in this way.

Coronavirus: Statement regarding new ‘lockdown’ restrictions in the UK

Following from this weekend’s announcement by the Prime Minister, Portsmouth Cathedral will continue to be open for individuals to come and pray and light candles, the broadcasting of on-line services, and funerals. Public worship, however, will not be possible from this Thursday, 5 November 2020, until Wednesday 2 December 2020.
