Portsmouth Cathedral Choir Tour to Sweden
Portsmouth Cathedral Choir has a long and fascinating tradition of touring in Europe. Our trip to Sweden this weekend is our 30 tour, after a cancelled trip to Poland in 2020 due to the pandemic!
Why do we tour? Singing tours are hugely beneficial for a number of reasons.
😇 The opportunity to sing core repertoire intensively over a few days
😲 The chance to sing in some of Europe’s most glorious churches and cathedrals
🤗 Choir camaraderie and morale
🎅🏼 To celebrate the Anglican tradition far and wide
🌎 To promote Portsmouth and its cathedral abroad
The oldest 16 boy choristers and back row of Portsmouth Cathedral Choir flew to Sweden today. The Choir will be based in the city of Uppsala and will be performing at venues through- out the city and at Sophia Church, Stockholm over the week.
This trip is particularly important to us as we have firm links with the Swedish Lutheran Church as part of the Porvoo Communion. Sweden’s ties with the United Kingdom are strong and this religious, cultural and social link is an important aspect. This will be our third trip to Sweden.
All of this, of course, costs money. We are grateful to the Choir Association for crucial support of this trip, and to all tour participants and choir who have contributed to the cost of our trip. We'd also like to thank Nick Speller who has fulfilled the role of Volunteer Tour Manager for over 20 years - thank you Nick!
All of this, is thanks to your continued donations and support.
