Canon Anthony Rustell preaches about ‘Refreshment Sunday’ as it is half way through Lent and allows a break in this traditional season of fasting.

The derivation of the title is from the 16th Century when people returned to their main or ‘mother’ church or cathedral for a special service, and those in service were given the day off to visit their own home church and to meet with their families (sometimes taking a posy of flowers to give to their mothers).
